Table Manners (Changi City Point)| ThumbsForFood

Table Manners is a good place to chill and hangout with friends in the East. The exterior and interior of the gastrobar immediately attracts one.

As the name suggests, the theme of having good table manners runs through the whole restaurant. From its creative and quirky quotes and photos hung on the wall to its placemats on the table, you'll never forget to have good table manners whilst dining.

Quirky and interesting quotes and photos on the wall
It's hard not to notice the paper placemats and napkins when you're seated. The paper placemats consists of conversation starters that tide you through awkward dinners. That is really so much better than fiddling with your phone and pretending to be busy on it. The napkins have a bow and a thin line that says to place it at your collar.

The Interior of the restaurant is sleek, communal and interesting. They have this long row of tables that are conjoined together that runs through the middle of the restaurant. The colors that are consistent throughout are black, brown and white. Simple yet comfortable. What I like is that the indoor seating area is very bright and it allows you to have a clear view of your company and the food.

Indoor Area
The outdoor area looks comfortable as well. As you can see from the picture below, they have a circular seating area. Really good place to people watch if you don't mind the outdoor heat.

We were there for happy hour (5pm-8pm daily). Bar Snacks (Finger food) are all priced at $6++ during Happy Hour and cocktails at $13++.

So, for starters, we ordered the following bar snacks (all at $6++)..

First, the Spicy Wings. The spicy wings are actually grilled and topped with spicy sauce. They are pretty delicious as they are well-cooked and marinated deliciously. For those who are not fans of spicy food, you can order their original wings too.

The Ebiko Mussels are a absolute killer for me. For one, I love seafood and that includes mussels. And topped with mentaiko that covers the mussels, seriously, who can resist this? The mussels were cooked just nice and the mentaiko accentuated the freshness of the mussels. I think I will definitely order this dish again!

And yes, truffle fries! The truffle fries here are relatively affordable compared to the ones we tried elsewhere. For the whole basket of it at $6 during Happy Hour, that's hard to miss. The only thing we felt was lacking was the evenness of truffle taste throughout the whole basket. Some were more flavorful than others. And yes, what's having bar snacks without some beer? For cocktail lovers, they do serve up a range of creative cocktails! Will definitely try it when I'm in a cocktail mood!

I read that their Angus Steak is highly recommended. But, well, we decided to try the King's Burger and Seafood Stew instead,

The King's Burger ($16) is really quite delicious. The patty is made by the restaurant itself and is actually a combination of pork and beef. It's juicy and really tasty! And yes, the portion is quite big with bacon, cheese, and a sunny side-up, it was really quite a mouthful to handle. Also, it's quite a value-for-money dish with truffle fries side and salad.

The seafood stew is about $15 or so and it's served with some bread. It's quite disappointing because it tasted rather average. And, sadly, it was served cold. I guess what makes a stew delicious and palatable would also be that it is served hot. Well, the seafood in the stew was mainly squid, mussels and prawns. The stew was a little too sweet for our liking.

We ended our meal with some desserts! The desserts in Table Manners is about $7++ or so. For the price, we were hoping for some really good dessert. And so, we ordered one of their speciality and recommended by the waiter - Sea Salt Chocolate Caramel Tart.

The sea salt chocolate caramel tart didn't really have the salty-chocolate combination taste that we were looking for. Rather, it tasted pretty mediocre. We would try their other desserts next time.

All in all, Table Manners has a good dining ambience, especially for large group of friends to congregate for some food and drinks. They also serve Papa Palheta Coffee! There are some hits and misses in their food but generally, we felt that their Bar Snacks are really value-for-money during Happy Hour. We would love to try their Angus Steak and their cocktails next visit! :)
